SOLITARY MAN
Plot:
When Ben Kalmen (Douglas) a prominent car dealerships owner goes for a routine medical check-up and the doctor informs him that he sees something of possible concern with his heart and suggest he consults a specialist, rather than take that advise, he decides to live life recklessly. He loses his dealerships because he deliberately indulges in bogus car deals and loses his wife Nancy played by Susan Sarandon who he had been in love with since college, because he sleeps with any woman under 30 years of age. Even when he has a chance to redeem himself and start a new business he thinks with the wrong head and botches that deal by sleeping with his financiers’ daughter.
Reel Talk:
Although this movie won’t get the mainstream attention, it was a very interestingly entertaining movie. It gives some insight to how men react regarding their health concerns and how some will risk everything when it comes to sex. Douglas puts in a good performance and has good support from Sarandon and one of his former co-stars from a few of his older movies in Danny Devito. A fun movie worth catching.
